Controversial Comebacks - The Capri Pants
Love them or hate them, capri pants are undoubtedly poised to be one of the biggest trends of 2024. Think of them as this year's low-rise jeans: you might dislike them now, but in a few months time, I’m sure you’ll be swayed! Designers like Coperni, Moschino, Chanel, and Tory Burch have featured this silhouette in recent runway shows, and celebrities such as Emily Ratajkowski and the Hadid sisters have been sporting them in their street style looks. The mid-length cut is also ideal for transitional weather and this lacklustre excuse of a summer we're currently experiencing! Ultimately, think of it as an excuse to channel your inner Carrie Bradshaw.
How to Style:
1) Add an oversized blazer
The ultimate failsafe of making an outfit look cool, add a boxy blazer. Pair your capris with a baby tee to keep the base of the outfit sleek, then chuck the blazer on top. Simple! For shoes, I find ballet flats work better than trainers as they look a little sleeker. Same goes for a pointed toe. This will counter the cropped silhouette and elongate your legs. Add some statement jewellery or maybe a vintage cap to complete the look.

2) Add a denim jacket
For a more casual look, switch the blazer for a denim jacket—opt for a style with detailing, embroidery, or a fun shape to complement the femininity of the capri silhouette. A slouchier tee has been added for an effortless vibe, balanced with dressy accessories. Rounded sunglasses reference back to the sixties shape of the capris, while pointed kitten heels prevent the trousers from cutting off your leg at the calf.

3) Add a sporty top
This one is potentially a bit more marmite, but try contrasting the trousers with a sportier silhouette! While a rugby shirt might not be the first thing you’d go to grab, sporty/dressy contrast outfits are long tried and tested and remain a firm favourite amongst the street style crowds. The details such as the stripe and the traditional style of loafer help to make the look feel more classic, while red accessories add a fun pop!
Note: this could also work with an oversized hoody or even a football shirt!

4) Add a waistcoat (bonus points for a matching set!)
We all know one of the easiest outfits to wear is a co-ord, throw in some double denim and you’re on to a winner. The denim shades don’t have to match either; you could try a contrast light/dark wash combination. The accessories have been kept to black patent leather to add another texture to the outfit without taking away from the double denim, and the flower adds a feminine (and v Carrie Bradshaw) twist.

There are countless other combos you could make with these trousers (these are just my personal faves!) - if you get stuck, I’d always suggest checking out Pinterest for more inspo! Hope this helps!
